Situated in the busy fishing port of Castletownbere, which provided the backdrop for the Neil Jordan film 'Ondine', it is evident why The Olde Bakery Restaurant's menu would take advantage of the array of fresh fish that arrives daily into the town's port on its local fleet. Monkfish, in the form of scampi or fillet, Lemon and Dover Sole, Hake, Cod and Brill are just some of the menu staples with other additions to the specials board depending on the catch.
The restaurant with seating for up to 60 covers invites the customer into a spacious traditional surrounding in what was once the main bakery to the town and its environs. With a mixture of original stone walls and wooden wainscoting, the ambiance of the restaurant is cosy and friendly; the basis for what we hope will be a pleasant visit.
In addition to the varied selection of seafood, the A La Carte menu also comprises of steaks and poultry all of which are prime Irish produce and Feile Bia approved. We offer a value for money 'Early Bird' menu available nightly 5.30pm to 7pm with 2 courses for €18.95 or 3 courses for €23.95. Also, nightly we have a specials board with Chef's suggestions.
As well as seating in the main restaurant, our Wine Bar has seating for an additional 30 people and a fully licensed bar with draught stouts and lager. The bar and restaurant are also available for private functions, birthdays, christenings, First Communions, Funeral parties etc and can also be hired for meetings or training days Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.
